The voice of the ghost in the Crystal Desert still pisses me off more than any other in GW. It's slow, breathy, overdramatic, and horribly grating. If people don't skip cutscenes in the desert I mute my speakers. It's the only voice that has made me do that.

You have died once, permanently, due to Danika's voice.

Seriously..her voice...what in the #### was guild wars thinking to use that?
Im not even joking I just....like....god....its so bad!

Its like taking the worst cut scenes ive ever seen (even broodwars are better!) and throwing in the worst voices.

Is guildwars strapped for cash? What the #### is wrong with them.

At least HA and GvG movies are skipped on a per-person basis.

The Seer is worse. Though I dont know why people say Prophecies cinematics sucked other than that.

I like Rurik's voice. He has some good lines. I'm just glad he didn't have to do the voice acting for some of his ingame fighting text...

I swear every time I hear Danika I think Fran Dresher. Imagine everything Danika says in the voice of The Nanny and you'll crack up.

The reason I dislike that one isn't so much the voice acting - though it does sound like her voice cracks in mid-sentence - it's the writing.

...Seriously, that's some majorly lazy writing. Did they just come up with a pseudo-real-world curse and substitute a random Guild Wars god into it? Do they have any idea what the word "damn" means, let alone why it's so utterly ridiculous to apply it to a god in a polytheistic system??

If you're going to make up blasphemous oaths, try to come up with something that would develop naturally out of your theological system, thanks.

It's almost as bad as the bit in Prophecies where whatsername swears by all the gods that she'll make those very same gods "pay" if they mistreat thingamydoodle. And meanwhile your party bows reverently around her.

I was about to comment on my personal least-favourite voice bit in Factions, but then I saw -

Exept for Visu because she was done by someone of the Vampire the masquerade:Bloodlines cast
...Are you serious? Vizu was one of the two voices who was technically incompentent in addition to having an unpleasant tambre in her own right.

(for those of you who slavishly follow my every train of thought, the other is Shiro - who wasn't a bad choice in himself, but he was chronically and consistently underrecorded! Good luck sounding menacing when they've turned the gain right down on your speeches...)

Vizu was badly recorded at the very least - her voice crackles at the top of the range. And for my record, she has the naturally-least-pleasant-to-listen-to voice of the entire cast. Elder Rhea and Danika at least have something interesting going on - a kind of textured ugly, if you like. Vizu? Whiny, idiotic woman whose only role is to telegraph the already pretty obvious final plot twist.

Happened to me two days ago - I was doing the bonus and some mapping. The game continued undisturbed...

`Danika's voice may suck but think of Shiro's when u beat him in the Imperial Sanctum

"this cannot be! " if you listen carefully you come to the conclusion ( well I did XD) that it is the voice of a woman lol

I forgot about him there, but I 111% agree with you. Mind numbingly slow and it sounds like he's choking on gravel. Worst. Cutscenes. Ever. One other thing I wonder about the ghosts though, why are they so damn tall? They must be like 10ft+...

Oh man! Evennia!! She clearly had dificulties trying to remember her lines sometimes. (Saidra's accent was ok)
Remembering her talk makes me realize the acting in Factions is in fact a lot better then in Profecies...generally speaking.

And Lyssa be damned is fitting because she is the goddess of good and bad luck as well as illusion and beauty.

The voice acting in GW (both Prophecies and Factions) has to be the worst I've heard in a long time. The people who did those voices (can't call them "actors") are clearly out of their leagues here. quite honestly, all the dialogs sound like they're made by bunch of algebra students in high school.

Ok, I'll make an exception for King Adelbern who was spot on, but the rest is just as pleasing as eating glass shards. Luckily I have a handy "mute" button on my keyboard so everytime someone doesn't skip... PIF!

According to the manual the voices are provided by a company called Blindlight, who have provided voice acting for other games. In theory, before any kind of voice acting gets into a game it surely must be approved by ANet (not only for quality but to make sure every line is "acted" according to the script). How could they have accepted this?

If they truly did have a short budget for voice acting than maybe Blindlight have provided ANet with a corresponding quality. Low budget = low quality. Or is it? I remember a while ago when a small game made it's way on the market, a game called "Thief: The Dark Project". Clearly Looking Glass (composed of university students at the time, if I remember) didn't have a gazillion buckazoids for their voices and yet they managed to churn out some of the most convincing voice acting in a PC game.

Why can't ANet?

Danika's voice, did not suit her at all. I would have expected something more deep to go with her whole dark, Gothic white skinned look (why IS she wearing a dress?).

Shiro's voice suited him. Shiro is a moron. If you have finnished the Factions campaign, you will know what I mean. He does some of the dumbest things I have ever seen.

"Well I'm an immortal envoy who can create a massive army out of people, what should I do? I KNOW! I'll become mortal again so that some bunch of people that I underestimated can kill me!"

Doesn't that just scream completely braindead? The Lich compared to this guy, is a super genius, at least he still wreaks havock after his death.

About the voices of both Dragons;

Glint is as old as Tyria, I'd love to know how you would sound after thousands of years of living.

Kuunavang is also very old, at least 200 years old. As well, she had just been released from Shiro's grasp, during which time she was being torn from the inside. Now try sounding good after that.

I didnt want to start a new topic for this but my list for worst voice-acting ever in guild wars.

by worst, I mean worst

1. Danika
2. The old fortune telling woman who made Shiro pissed and paranoid
3. Seer

Post your own lists

P.S. I liked Rurik's voice acting, but he's just stupid, I mean, he got stuck under a tree, and my party and I were just a few hundred feet away from him. We could've saved his ass
